He has arrived!! Elder Haynie arrived in Lubbock today at 3:45 p.m.. He arrived via American Airlines, with much anitcipation of the next 2 years of his mission. He was accompanied there with 2 other Elders who were in his District, Elder Engstrom, Elder Cherrington. They all were very excited to start their new endeavor.
The last 3 weeks in the MTC have been amazing for him. He speaks of spiritual experiences as well as the fun he was having with the other Elders. He never took for granted the opportunities he had to learn. Although he speaks of a few trials, he truly enjoyed his time there.
Elder Haynie was able to call home and speak with his family for a short time. We all cherished the time we had to talk to him and hear of all the exciting things that have happened so far. When he informed us that he would be able to call from the airport, he told me ( Mom) to be sure and answer my phone as he would be calling. Guess what? I missed the first phone call. With all the anticipation of waiting to hear from him, I missed the phone call!! Heavenly Father must have known of my anguish, as he gave me another chance to talk to him. He sounds amazing! He inquired about all of us and wanted to know the updated news on everybody. With no real change, except for our missing him, we could only tell him to not worry and go and serve a noble mission. And of course, WE LOVE HIM!!! It was probably more comforting to me (Mom) to talk to him as I have worried so much about him. He assured me that there was no need to worry and that he is fine. What a relief!
Elder Haynie was able to attend the Dedication of the Draper, Utah Temple. He loved it. It was an honor for him to be able to experience this, the day before he left to go to Lubbock.
We feel so blessed to have our son serve his mission and be able to share it with him. We are so proud of him.
He would love to hear from friends and family, so his address will follow in a day or two!
